Washington University School of Law is considered to be a private school which is situated in the city of St. Louis in Missouri. This school is comprised into the seven academic schools of the Washington University. It was established in 1867, and is said to be the oldest private school of the west bank of the Mississippi river. Formerly, the school was located in downtown of the St. Louis, however, in 1904, it was replaced into the Danforh Campus. Nowadays, the location of the school is as follows: it is situated in Anheuser-Busch Hall.

If speaking about the academics of the Washington University School of Law, one should mention that the majority of the students are busy with the JD programs, those are juris doctor programs. As a rule, such a study is completed in three years.

The following degrees are available within the joint degree programs of the school of law:  JD-MSW, JD-MHA – in Health Administration, JD-MA – in Economics, JD-MA in East Asian Studies, JD-MBA.

The number of various Clinical Programs is available to the students. The following disciplines are studied: Appellate Advocacy, Civil Justice, Civil Rights and Comminute Justice, Criminal Justice, Congressional and Administrative Law, Government Lawyering, Interdisciplinary Environmental, Intellectual Property & Business Formation, Judicial Clerkship.



The John M. Olin School of Business

The John M. Olin School of Business is the academic school of the Washington University. It is located within the territory of the Danforth Campus. The school includes Simon Hall and the Charles F. Knight Executive Education Center.

This school was established in 1971 and was named in honor of the entrepreneur John M. Olin. Nowadays, the school is considered to be one of the most leading schools in business thanks to its great achievements and awards. The following degrees one is able to earn within the curriculum of the John M. Olin School of Business: MBA, BSBA, Masters in Accounting, MS in Finance, PhD degrees, Executive MBA degree. In corporation with Fudan University, an Executive MBA program was presented in 2002.

All the students have the right to select everything they want form the electives of the Washington University; those are College of Arts and Sciences, Medical School, School of Social Work, Engineering School, and Law School. The network of the active alumni within the school is just great; it numbers about 13,000.

The process of admission to school is rather complicated; one has to pass four rounds of testing, as this school is considered to be very selective. The statistic shows that the school admits only 30 per cent of all the applicants.



Schools and Colleges of the Washington University. College of Arts and Sciences

The following colleges and school are operating within the walls of the Washington University: School of Engendering, Olin Business School, College of Architecture, College of Art, Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts, University College, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Medicine, Sever Institute of Confusing Studies, Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Design,  Graduate School of Art, George Warren Brown School of Social Work, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, School of Law.

College of Art and Sciences comprises three divisions: the College of Arts & Sciences, the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, and University College in Arts & Sciences. It numbers 330 Faculties and stuff, which includes more than 100 of specialists. One is able to earn a master’s and PhD degree. Moreover, the university offers course for those who want to continue education and night courses for adults. The College of Arts and Sciences provides the education in many languages such as Spanish, German, Arabic, French, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Greek, Italian, Hebrew, Swahili, Korean, Hindi, and even Latin. Within the walls of the College of Arts and Sciences one can also find the course in the following languages: Vietnamese, Swedish, and Portuguese.



Campuses of the Washington University

Washington University is famous for its campuses. Let us start with the Danforth Campus. It is a very beautiful building, which is decorated in the traditions of the collegiate gothic architecture. The territory of the Danforth Campus stretches for 169-acre that is 0,7 square kilometers. Campus borders with the Forest Park; the part of it is situated in the city of St. Louis. Some years before the campus was famous under the name of Hilltop Campus. It is rather simple to reach the campus with the help of the university City Big Bend and Skinker station.

Medical campus stretches for 135 acres, that is 0,5 square kilometers. It borders with Forest Park in its eastern part. This campus comprises the Medical School and a number of teaching hospitals – St. Louis Children’s Hospital and  Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Almost all the buildings, which are included into the Medical campus, are connected with the help of bridges and corridors.

North and West Campuses are of the administrative character and they are not student-based. North campus is situated in the St. Louis city near by the Delmar Loop. The West Campus is located about one mile of the Danforth Campus. North Campus comprises University administrative departments, Accounting and Treasury Services, Parking and Transportation services. West Campus comprises library archives and Conference Center.

Tyson research Center stretches for 2,000 acres that is 8 square kilometers. This campus is used as a biological field station and research center.
