7 08 2008Washington University was founded in 1853 as a private institution. It was founded by Wayman Crow and William Greenleaf Eliot. First, the university was Eliot Seminary, in 1854 it received the name of “Washington Institute in St. Louis”. It has happened because of the university charter was accepted in February, 22, 853 – a birthday of George Washington.
The campuses of the university are very beautiful due to the colligate gothic architecture. All the campuses are very convenient.
Speaking about the research centers and school one should mention that all the students are engaged into the academic research, in spite of being undergraduates or graduates. The number of inventions made at the university is just great: National Institution of Health accounts 150 inventions.
Accept the academical researches, the following students organizations exist: Washington University Student Union, Residential Life and Events Programming Board, television, and radio station.
